The figures involved were astronomic and as more and more unfolds regarding other issues such as tax avoidance with other global players it is obvious that HMRC were trying their best to get Mba discredited.
What beggars belief is that this is the behaviour of a senior Government Department that has been in the firing line for years.
Why are there so few whistleblowers if things are so bad in HMRC?
Who is responsible for HMRC and is it not time for some serious action to address the ongoing mess?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29600742611858461.post-19382686336751255822013-05-02T03:33:35.581+01:002013-05-02T03:33:35.581+01:00"HMRC had the wrong target in their sights an..."HMRC had the wrong target in their sights and used a scattergun approach to this individual which appears to have misfired."

I think you fail to understand the point of this sort of behaviour. Sure, the obvious part of it see if there's anything to be dredged up that could be used to smear, or discredit Mba.
That's despicable, but not the important part.

The important part is that the way he was treated in the first instance and now this on top acts as a public beating. Even if nothing sticks to Mba... Even if he ends up getting a huge pay-off for constructive dismissal... It's a graphic reminder for HMRC what happens if you cross the management.

Think of it like the videos that get leaked in the US of police officers beating the pulp out of people, or tasering them. The obvious bit of what happens is that people get angry. But the REAL effect if that people are reminded that even when the officer that pulls you over is being an ass, you better play nice, because if he beats you to a pulp in the street he'll get away with it.

It's what whistle-blowing legislation is supposed to protect people like Mba from. Supposed to... Hopefully the powers that be will finally act and send in the proper investigators to establish the true level of law breaking in there. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
