Fujitsu and HMRC - #PostOfficeScandal

Given that Fujitsu is currently in the news again, courtesy of its role in the Horizon Post Office scandal, it is worth remembering that it also has a long term relationship with HMRC.

Here is a link to a few articles I wrote over the years mentioning that relationship.

In fact Fujitsu seems to have its tentacles in many taxpayer funded pies, as per Computer Weekly:

"Despite its involvement in the scandal, the Japanese IT giant has continued to be awarded lucrative contracts by the UK government. Last year, it was awarded IT services contracts by the Home Office, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). It will be paid £250m by HMRC to replace an in-house service, while the FCDO has contracted it to provide networking and communications services in a deal worth £184m, and the Home Office is paying Fujitsu £48m to support the technology underpinning the Police National Database."
Those of you who work within HMRC are more than welcome to share your insights/thoughts/experiences about this.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. They did have their tentacles in many public sector departments. Added together, it would have been over a Billion.

The establishment closed ranks to keep the gravy train running. They're happy to run 'inquiries' to kick everything in to the long grass in the hope it's forgot about. New management, hollow apologies and empty promises of it not happening again.

Vennells in the Post Office. HMRC has their own version of a scum bag who's escaped justice .

  2. Legacy systems? That wouldn't come under the old remit of Fujitsu would it by any chance?

  3. Thank you for reminding us about their relationship.

The recent dramatisation of the horrific post office corruption on ITV is a reminder of other corrupt organisations in the UK e.g. HMRC.

When will victims of the loan charge scandal and HMRC staff bullying culture see justice for the lives lost and destroyed by HMRC misconduct? When will the guilty HMRC employees be investigated, prosecuted and locked up?

They are pure filth. Justice must be done.

    1. As you seem reluctant to pass on your evidence of HMRC illegality to the police perhaps you could give it to the TV production company who made the post office programme and earn yourself a few bob.
      Not holding my breath mind.

  4. Post Office could be liable for 100 Million tax bill which goes to HMRC and The Treasury. This results in bankruptcy, so the government will have to step in and pay them back the money to keep them solvent.

I think Fujitsu will be contributing as well.

  5. Fujitsu is quoted to have 11 contracts with HMRC.

I hope Mr Harra has a little look at them and has them 'under review'.
