HMRC Wants Quickie Divorce From Concentrix

Given the ongoing shit storm wrt HMRC's and Concentrix's handling of tax credits, it should come as no surprise to learn that HMRC is negotiating with Concentrix for an early exit from the tax credits contract due to run until May 2017.

This quickie divorce story must be true because financial secretary to the Treasury Jane Ellison told MPs during a three-hour House of Commons debate on 26 October.

However, call me a cynic, but I guarantee that if the contract is terminated earlier than May then the hapless taxpayer will be screwed for large penalty clauses etc payable to Concentrix.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. Think media & image management. No matter the cost to the taxpayer (they do act as though it grows on tress), it would appear its all about running away from accountability as quickly as possible. While the victims deal with the aftermath, I imagine HMRC's plan is to spin it in the hope that their latest high profile example of mismanagement of public money is forgotten. If they had a track record of integrity and professionalism, we might be a little shocked.

  2. Might go some way to explaiin why nothing in the MSM and no action apparent against Hartnett, thus far?
But then I realised that Keith (Jim) Vaz was voted onto the Justice Select Committee last night in a Parliamentary vote devoid of Conservatives. Again, nothing in MSM.

WTF is wrong with this country? No wonder the amount of lawbreaking by Muppett management, they believe they are untouchable!
