HMRC's Brexit Bonus


CSW reports that the five biggest Brexit preparation allocations have been made to the Home Office (£480m), Defra (£410m), HMRC (£375m), BEIS (£190m) and the Department for International Trade (£128m).

HMRC is expected to use the cash to will employ over 3,000 additional customer service and compliance staff in operational roles to handle increases in customs activity, as well as introducing new technology at the border. 

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. There's no magic money tree. How much of this will go into pay rises for AO's or progression rises for people doing Band O jobs for years on peanuts? Shite all I reckon.

    It will be the disposable workforce recruitment model. Yeah, you will get a pension but it wont be worth a carrot. Only being in the job for ten minutes.

    Meanwhile, the elites get their gold plated pensions after going though the never ending revolving door. Talk shite and do nothing in another twelve month non-job.

  2. HMRC pays us peanuts....get them in the long grass...there are other ways to "achieve" a pay rise...time is money.
