IT Upgrade
Director of Finance writes that HMRC will be implementing a much needed major IT upgrade, which will create one single record of an individual's PAYE pay and tax and National Insurance details.
There will be a temporary period of planned service interruption from 12 June 2009.
Fingers crossed it goes according to plan, as all IT upgrades (in both the private and public sectors) always do.
Tax does have to be taxing.

Much probs filling in my CT forms yesterday, none of the help links worked. I suspect the recent issue of IE8 is causing problems as is not just HMRC but a bank site, many blogs and my own CDs since I upgraded last week.
ReplyDeleteThe help links rarely work... it's been like that for some time.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard, the "upgrade" has already run in to major problems! It's only a matter of time before it all goes tits up.
Having read the T&Cs of paying the VAT, it will be your (our) fault if we cannot pay on time if the system is down.
ReplyDeleteLet's pray they consolidate all of that information and then "lose" it.
ReplyDeleteActually I meant "dont" lose it, but either way, I'm sure they'll still manage to fuck something up. It is HMRC afterall.
ReplyDeleteZulqar, it doesnt affect VAT, when I left the office @ 3pm all systems were up & running !.
ReplyDeleteWell as an enquiry centre worker i can assure you i am not looking forward to the next three weeks no refunds no tax code changes having to tell customers who are owed money that nothing can be done for at least three weeks but with some offices already having three months post on hand its gonna become a nightmare and this will link in nicely with the tax credit renewal claimants who haven't bothered to return their form and get there money stopped August is gonna be hell.
ReplyDeletere my above comment i meant some offices have three MONTHS post on hand
