Most of HMRC's online services are down, because of an IT upgrade.
In theory "normal" services will resume from 6am Saturday.
There is some "good" news though, an HMRC spokesperson has told AccountingWeb that the downtime will "definitely" not affect RTI.
Hoozah!

The "downtime" happens at this time of year every year and has done so since I started in HMRC 20+ years ago. It is what's known (by us lifers) as "reconstitution" - whereby the system has updates and databases are refreshed on a bigger scale than the normal day to day refresh. Nothing untoward or underhanded.

ReplyDeleteRTI isn't "reconstitution", inability to get through on the phones isn't either.
The software issues associated with RTI are now beginning to show out and no amount of "window dressing" can cover the facts as they emerge.
Can't wait to see what the PAC says let alone the excuses the establishment try to use to explain the mess.
The ship has ploughed straight into the iceberg as so clearly prophesised and is on its way down.
