MTD To Cost Businesses an Extra £37M

When MTD was first mooted, original forecasts said the scheme would save businesses £100 million a year from 2021.

However, reality is a strict mistress, HMRC’s latest view is there will be no cost savings and the extra work will end up costing firms £37 million a year!

How farking splendid!

Oh but on the plus side, those extra costs will be tax deductible.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. Making Tax Digital isn't going anywhere. The clown outfit will trot out the platitudes to the media. If it goes south, it's the 'lessons have been learned ' script. Pass the knighthood.

Small and Medium Businesses (a few accountants too I would wager) haven't got the first clue about the shit tornado that's about to hit.

Mr Local Accountant is going to be busier than a one legged man in an arse kicking competition. I'm in the wrong game.

  2. Just remind me again what the constant perils of Big IT are?

    Oh yes:

    Underestimated Costs
    Expanding Complexity
    Unrealistic expectations
    Optimism planning bias
Factoring in hard projected future savings but soft costs

  3. These geniuses don't seem to have a brain cell between them! What with the impact of Brexit, businesses, especially SMEs, are going to be spending far too much time dealing with tax. How the hell will this help the UK economy?

Never mind, I bet the fat got will still get his knighthood on the basis of a fascination with leadership. Pathetic cretins.
