HMRC's IT Systems Are Fucked!

Loyal Reader:
"Latest from the trenches....internal HMRC Intranet which took at least 30 seconds to load a page...quality work from the I.T team at HMRC CDIO...is now being upgraded....hurrah !!!
Instead of 30 seconds......the Intranet after rigorous testing....drum roll..........is producing the error 502 Gateway Error.....brilliant...simply thanks vouchers all round !!! The Titanic continues to sink....when will they ever learn ?
More breaking news as it happens.....

...and even better...our I.T gurus have now admitted defeat and returned to the old Intranet system which takes an average of 30 seconds to load a page...they say it's better than having no system at all...what a BRILLIANT HMRC !! Sticking plasters all round."

"Meanwhile, in HMRC, the much-trumpeted migration of the department's clunky intranet to 'the cloud' had to be rolled back within 24 hours because it broke down immediately, ended up being slower than the unmigrated version, and broke everyone's favourites/bookmarks."

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. Is it because...its shite?

Making Tax Digital becomes mandatory in the not too distant future. Trot out the usual script, from the official fob off script book 101 and other dodges. "Lessons have been learned". "Teething problems". "System needs to bed in" "We're clueless, overpaid and swerving any responsibility whatsover" "Let's shake the bucket for Children In Need"

    Need I go on.

    1. And a new tactic.....getting an I.T fall guy to "apologise" profusely...which in turn gets the brown nosers out on the comments section thanking him for being so open and transparent....the engagement tombola wheel goes round and round....seems to be a case of rewarding failure....I wonder if the I.T department will be getting a "must improve"....or a simply thanks brown envelope for engaging their balls up in a "brilliant" way....mmm...I wonder

  2. Meanwhile, lowlife scum, are continuing to target members of the public with a scam claiming to be from HMRC. This latest one has been reported in Norfolk but will likely affect wider areas of the UK:

"We are continuing to receive reports from Norfolk residents about telephone cold calls and voicemail messages claiming to be from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) about unpaid tax.

HMRC have also been made aware that fraudsters are spoofing legitimate HMRC phone numbers in some scam calls. It is possible the scammers may attempt to use the spoofed number on caller ID as a way of trying to authenticate the call.

HMRC advise they will 'never call out of the blue asking for payment'.

Our advice remains to be very wary of any approach made by a telephone cold call. If you receive one of these calls our advice is do not interact with the call and hang up.

Please continue to share this and the scam alert issued on 31 October to make as many people as possible aware of these scam calls and help to keep Norfolk scam aware."

An organisation in the gutter with vile criminals taking advantage of their unprofessional reputation?

  3. With it being Anti-bullying week next week, will we see the hypocritical spectacle of the HMRC monsters getting in the act?

Those barbaric bastards' bullying has inflicted much harm on HMRC staff and taxpayers alike. Those HMRC personnel who pushed it too far committing criminal offences in the process, or senior management/HR who committed potential Misconduct in Public Office offences in the cover-up, should be prosecuted for their crimes, some of which have the potential for custodial sentences. A very serious issue which HMRC has, thus far, successfully swept under the carpet.

    1. Perhaps if you report these criminal offences to the police the perpetrators will be prosecuted.
      Just a suggestion.

    2. The truth will catch up with HMRC lawbreakers - they are no different to the average criminal filth. C*nuts and that includes you Mr barker.

    3. I take it that means that you haven't reported these awful crimes to the police.
      Strange that.
Anyone might think that they had never happened.

    1. Indeed they do.

To the point of a complete cretin harassing the Director of a company for immediate payment of £4.5k that was supposedly owed, threatening district of personal goods.

He was the CEO of a FTSE 100 compsny

    2. Agree with above two points.

HMRC do indeed contact people by phone - both Debt Management Contact Centres and Field Force Collectors.

People have obviously been caused distress by these scams and it would helpful if the HMRC muppets amended their advice to take into account the reality of the above.

  5. Client having been chased by an endless series of ill trained, clueless fools over £17.5k of "underpaid" CT when on fact a refund of £4k was due, arranged a face to face meeting and duly travelled 150 miles.

Yes, terribly sorry, we will get that sorted. Subsequently confirmed in writing.

That was 18 months ago, refund effectively obtained via an offset against following year yet client still getting idiotic letters and phone calls from people who seem locked into a process loop over an error.
