They've had another smidgen of bad press in The Telegraph today. Failure to answer calls and letters. Time to whip up a PR statement blaming the scamdemic.
ReplyDeleteIs this genuinely a surprise to anyone?
ReplyDeleteHMRC is renowned for its poor service standards, lack of competence and data security issues.
Some of us who formerly worked for HMRC would go much further than that: HMRC has a rotten bullying culture; casually tolerates poor performance; and covers up misconduct and lawbreaking. Speaking as a whistle blower, I have to say that HMRC were relentless in their efforts to drive me to suicide. A special kind of hell awaits those sinners. It's an organisation with zero integrity and zero discipline.
So, no, we shouldn't be surprised that these bunch of characters are still hiding at home watching Netflix.
Hybrid working might be for higher ranking staff in the private AND public sectors, but the evidence is the lower grade civil service/HMRC can't be trusted to work productively from home.
These HMRC people 'working from home' on full pay are basically cheating the taxpayer. Taxpayers facing delays and disruption to their lives because of HMRC will become angrier and angrier, which is completely understandable, until such time as the government gets a grip of this unacceptable situation.
