Pay Freeze?

Trouble in Store
Stephen Timms, the Treasury Minister, has said the government will soon make a pay decision wrt HMRC staff.

He has not ruled out a freeze on salary levels.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. absolutely agree - HMRC is a fine, upstanding, morally faultless department that takes such a pride in looking after its staff and serving the public - I would gladly take a pay cut or even pay for the privilege of working for them if they asked me.

  3. Actually we have already voted for a pay freeze !

    As we were threatened with a payfreeze if we rejected the ever so generous pay offer of 1% for each of the next two years !.

    Every small businessman in the country already pays for the privelege of working for HMRC, and I don't think "asked" is the verb they would use.
