Happy New Year!

As the calendar year comes to an end, and we stand on the threshold of 2012, it is "refreshing" to learn that "Tax Freedom Day" (for the average taxpayer) is 26th July 2012.

We are all working for the government now.

Happy New Year everyone!

  1. Unless you're Philip Green or the CEO of Vodafone, in which case it's probably about April 10th.

  2. Happy New Year to you too Ken. Jack has left a heartfelt Christmas message to the masses via the intranet, but he failed to mention his retirement or his massive pension pot

"HMRC announced last week that the top tax official will take early retirement next summer with a pension pot of £1.7 million This is likely to pay out around £75,000 to £80,000 a year, plus a lump sum worth around £160,000"

Just goes to prove he really has walked away from the embarrassing fiasco of Goldman Sucks and avoidaphone without suffering any consequences for his actions.

    April the 1st maybe.

Though I've yet to find evidence of HMRC/Inland Revenue/HMIT itself setting the laws around residency/non-doms/penalties/tax and NI allowances and rate bands etc. I thought that all fell to georgie-peorgie/captain darling/brown asterisk/norman lament/sergeant major/lawless lawson/howe did he manage/heasily does it denis? etc etc.
