No HMRC Christmas Parties

As HMRC staff know, HMRC does not pay for a staff Christmas party.

The Telegraph quotes an HMRC source:
"HMRC does not hold any Christmas parties for staff.

We would never spend public funds on anything like that.”
This is of course a tad ironic given that HMRC did use public money to pay for its much derided, and exclusive, Westminster service.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. Moral is that bad, no one would go to them. The shit that goes on during the day, arguments, IT/Software problems, union meetings, sick absence, bullying, etc is bad enough never mind extending it to a social environment. People bugger off home as soon as they can.

  3. The Inland Revenue staff had a discretionary half day flexi credit up until about 10 years ago for Christmas shopping and were able to claim advances from January's salary to be paid in December. That's about it. Any office parties are self funded, though obviously there's power in large numbers!

  5. Xmas in Cardiff, Tyne Glasgow orifice - few years ago now, new fire detection system installed, evidently too sensitive to allow crime decorations to be put up. Load of bollocking when you researched the system as it was also affected by PL screens, fluorescent lights, mobile phones etc. etc.

All this and more, yes, HMRC, a jolly place to work, management cnuts & tw@ts.

Christmas for a lot of the junior grades is tighter than ever, wonder how many of the poor buggers are "customers" oh benefits, or illegal immigrants?
