Mr Fixit

Dave Hartnett quoted by the Telegraph at yesterday's PAC:
"I was approached to join a committee looking to make the bank secure for the future after its difficulties in Mexico and Switzerland. The idea of helping to make a huge bank secure for the future appealed a lot for me."
Job done!

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. If you work in HMRC like I did, even only at Admin Assistant level, the bad news is whether you like it or not, you are associated with this shower. On your CV, work history etc, you have to say you have worked with this crowd. The lost data, the mistakes, wrong letters, HSBC carry on, even though you had nothing to do with it personally, is tagged along with your name. Thats why you need to think carefully about what you want to do in future, becuase these bastards could ruin your future prospects of working somewhere else because of their shitty record, mostly since 2005.

  2. That bastard Gordon Brown is squarely to blame for the downfall of Customs, the merger was nothing more than a vanity project for this unelected (PM) idiot. IR and customs should have remained separate entities. All that has happened is the two organizations have created an almighty clusterfuck that can never be repaired until we get competent people in to run the department professionally. Its become an absolute laughing stock. I personally can't wait to retire from this hellhole.

  4. As did the merger between Immigration and Customs Detection staff into the shower of UKBA. And the setting up of SOCA mixing Customs Drug Investigators with police officers from the National Crime Squad. UKBA now rebranded as UKBF and SOCA rebranded as NCA. What a complete mess. And HMRC carries on, obviously in a bad way.
There's an old saying in my trade-"if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Perhaps HM Government should implement this for themselves.
