  1. Absolutely disgusting in a free, open & democratic country, governed by the rule of law. Sadly though, this does not surprise me, HMRC's values are very different to that of the public, and they are respecter of due process. It is that lack of due process which has allowed some HMRC officers to breach criminal data laws and be allowed to get away with it in the full knowledge of senior management, while the victims deal with the consequences.

  2. Thousands of people face bankruptcy and are in despair due to APNs. They are a draconian measure which I am not sure HMRC can be trusted to use in a fair and even-handed way.

Most people agree that tax is needed for a fair and decent society, and most would expect the system to come down hard on those cheating it. It is the methods and lack of integrity in the tax department to which people object. Until they get their own house in order HMRC should be stripped of their power to issue APNs.

    1. Least in Nigel Farrage & Donald Trump we now have people standing up for the little people against the liberal elites. Drain the swamp.
