Snouts in The Trough - Tax Avoidance

Snouts in The Trough
Isn't it ironic that Smiler Brown and his party of "fiscally prudent" lackeys have been so very very vocal over the "heinous crime" (so they would have us believe) of tax avoidance, given that they are experts at tax avoidance themselves?

Flipping one's primary and secondary homes willy nilly, so as to avoid CGT etc, is something of a right of passage for members of ZaNuLabour.

Ooh the irony that their political cudgel, HMRC, has now been forced to investigate whether MPs have deliberately evaded capital gains tax when selling their second homes.

I wonder if any Labour MPs will be "named and shamed"?

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. Well, we all know now that MPs have been sucking on the taxpayer's teat for years.

Now HMRC have spat their dummy out to go and investigate.

I can't wait to see how this one plays out.

  2. Embezzlement includes the dishonest appropriation of funds by trusted persons. Trusted MPs set up a system where they avoided all normal checks on the legitimacy of their expenses. Where is the surprise that a system which could easily be abused, was then abused? Where is the surprise that dishonest people then went on to avoid disclosure of their expenses, even avoid their expenses going above the £250 limit, or even commit tax avoidance/evasion?

The real story is the extent that the Government will descend in order avoid dealing with the real issues or plain inconvenient facts, a common problem with Officers of HMRC and other government departments. But, will this extend to asking a politicized HMRC to avoid finding any evidence of even mischievousness among MP’s?

  4. Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself.

  5. Under the "rules" - expenses that are “excessive or luxurious” are not permitted.

HMRC should have a fucking field day with today's Daily Telegraph.

There is absolutely no doubt that they are excessive and luxurious -its a slam dunk!
