  1. Why? In her books everything is all fine and dandy at HMRC.

  4. Lets hope its fair!

Not some guy who hasnt bothered completing his returns and then complains when the debt collecters turn up at the door!

There are computer problems, lengthy delays and far too many cheifs and not enough indians at HMRC.

HMRC is badly managed and it is the customers and staff who suffer. The vast majority of people at HMRC want to do the job they were trained to do but there are not enough time or resources so corners get cut.

  5. Do not get your hopes up, the BBC are not very good at tacking on the government.

  8. The intranet said the title of the show is "Are You Paying too Much Tax" Plus they may touch upon the telephone issue.

  9. Leslie Strathie has single hadedly butchered both Jobcentre+ and HMRC. She has the blood of over 40000 jobs losses on her hands and people wonder why both are an utter shambles. She bases who goes and who stays on geography alone rather than ability. She must be stopped.

And the taxpayers must unite to oust Mike Clasper, the invisible chairman on £150000 for a three day week. He was employed to create the HMRC "Vision" and has not been seen by staff since.

Basically Strathie & Clasper are a pair of feckless.........

  10. See the service has continued to plummet since I left. Well, you will insist on using stupid computer systems, treat staff like idiots, move staff to different posts following restructuring and not train them properly, etc...

  11. She should get a bafta for that performance.

  12. It pains me to say this but we have got to the point where we don't even care if we are doing things wrong as our concerns are not listened to, our training is non existent, systems are a joke, procedures and guidance come from people who have no idea what job we do or have any idea how to go about doing it, major IT changes are implemented without any inter office communication and/or consultation, everytime management pass this up the chain and get nowhere...............and I can only see it getting worse..... A lot worse!

  13. You need to remember that Pacesetter is the answer to everything(Aids, Peace in the Middle East etc).

At our Pacesetter meeting yesterday an 8 month pregnant colleague was told she had to stand during the daily meeting and I was told off for answering the phone, apparently the meeting is more important than providing customer service.

Sums up the current HMRC doesnt it ?? (Current DMB employee who has done more years than I care to remember !).

  14. Despite presiding over the utter shambles that is HMRC, she has been made a Dame Commander of the Order of the Bath in the Queens Birthday honours list. Words fail me.

Just came on this site to post the same, words utterly fail me to...

Now we know what we have always suspected, there is no justice in the world.

  16. HMRC came 95th out of 96th in the Staff Survey. The reward for the one who presides over the shambles - oh yeh - a Damehood. Pantomime Dame more like!

  17. At a "town hall event" Strathie said: "I think you need to be a bit like Stalin, a dictator, to create a democracy." !!! Fact. This is the person running HMRC at the moment. But we know it is a revolving door at the top - they come in, cut the staff, accept their payoff (or honours), and go.

We certainly know all about Stalinism at the office that I work in. The Stasie would be proud of the management style in the place.

  19. Utterly clueless management who treat staff like they're children.

No chance senior management losing their job is there???

    Dame Lesley Strathie. UNBELIEVABLE.

  20. At one stage we were able to actually talk to a real person at HMRC who knew what they were doing and were very helpful. Now all you get is music interspersed with an idiotic message. I am not prepared to spend hours calling an 0845 number which no one ever picks up. I dont' need threatening letters either when according to my records my tax is in order.
