  1. This seems to fit in with other government agencies and departments methods. Take what appears to be the easiest option to get the money in and sod the effect on the people involved.

  2. Are you arguing that HMRC should allow further debts to accrue and NOT protect the public purse ?.

  3. Are you arguing they give a toss about the public purse?

  4. Some of the staff who worked for these wound up comapnies will end up on job seeker's allowance etc.

How does this "protect the public purse"?

This was where I was coming from in my first post, maybe I need to post more detail in the future.

I have been dealing with the CSA for years and they have the same style. I had to pay so much maintenance that I could not afford my rent and other bills so ended up giving up a good job because I had nowhere to live. They showed no interest in these facts and just wanted their money.

  6. HMRC has policies. The companies would have been closed down as a result of a serious non compliance or as a result of not attempting to ask help. They have to decide in these cases if the customer is a cant pay or wont pay. They help people who cant pay if its within the guidelines they work from. If its someone who refuses to pay (wont pay) i think they dont wind them up soon enough. The people who are working for them should know that they are not paying over there tax liabilites.
