HMRC Staff In Dundee To Be Moved

Last week it emerged that 34 HMRC employees working at the offices at Caledonian House in Greenmarket were offered voluntary redundancy.

CCH reports that the ‘majority’ of HMRC workers in Dundee will be moved elsewhere in the city as part of a wider overhaul of staffing in the tax authority’s offices,

An HMRC spokesperson said:
HMRC has been working hard to avoid compulsory redundancies since we first announced that offices would be closing in November 2015.

On 22 June, we launched a voluntary redundancy scheme for people currently working in offices due to close between December 2017 and March 2018.

Every person in these offices has had the opportunity to hold a one-to-one meeting with their manager to look at whether they can move to another HMRC office. The people being offered voluntary redundancy are those who, following the one-to-one discussions, are confirmed as being outside of reasonable daily travel of another HMRC office.’

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. Voluntary redundancy = spending significant amounts of taxpayer's money to put decent people out of work and lose more experience from HMRC, at a time when such experience is badly needed.
Seriously, do Jonathan Thompson and other senior managers know what they are doing??? The decision they make look so crazy I wonder how they justify the colossal wages they collect from us, the general taxpaying public who ultimately employ them. I would sack them for poor performance to be honest.

  3. HMRC are totally corrupt. I don't know how the guilty sleep at night. Justice must be done.

  4. Filthy evil scumbags...they probably sleep very soundly (and knowing what they've done that probably provides a wee clue to their desperately sick state of mind).

  5. HMRC can and will do literally what they like. They break criminal and civil laws and believe its they have a god given right to make the reality of their law breaking disappear. Wrong, wrong, wrong. All that's needed is for someone in authority to remind them they are now above the rule of law in this country.
