Lost!

It seems that even ex staff of HMRC cannot quite shake the HMRC curse.

A loyal reader (ex HMRC) informs me of the following problem that he is having wrt lost records:

"HMRC have made a total blunder with regards me applying for Voluntary Early Severance from my current government job.

My records have got lost in a proverbial black hole of Calcutta, caused by our friends at HMRC
."

If HMRC lose internal records (relating to staff/ex staff), what do they do with records relating to external "customers" (taxpayers)?

Tax does have to be taxing.

  3. Oh Joy, more lost data !

Can't say I'm surprised. After 8 years of saying that they never lose anything (yes, really, they should do stand up). I have a letter saying that they may have 'misplaced' some info !
That's half of my issue with them.

They now want me to supply phone records from 8 years ago to prove the other half !!!
The kicker is, I didn't make the calls. As they lost the info first time around I communicated through my MP who in turn called them on the MP's hotline. He is no longer my PM having lost in the last shake up.

What's the betting they won't be able to find these records now?
And, no doubt, that will be my fault as well.

Yes its all your fault. HMRC are innocent and we are all guilty until we prove otherwise.

  7. I intend to tell them I'm giving all their letters (proving they don't answer questions they don't like and ignore points that go against them) to the media.
I'm sure that nice fellow at the Mail that's doing a hatchet job on them at the moment would like a look!

I'm told that approach focuses their collective minds.

  8. Those of you, the majority, who are not fortunate to be working in the ongoing "Muppet Show" that is HMRC should count their blessings. If the general populace only new how much of their hard earned tax is wasted by this lot they would probably moan and do nothing.
Your hard pressed civil servants, they must be yours you pay for their paltry salaries and their money grabbing top brass exceed the P.M. pay and bonuses...still can't work out how an organisation that came last i.e. 103rd out of 103 can have the cheek to pay bonuses - for what? Anyway watch your T.V.'s on the 26th and see what real Democracy is all about - there will be a demonstration in London that makes every one that went before it look small. Some of what they are demonstrating about relates to you, the taxpayer, and don't forget, Civil Servants pay taxes too! If you think its bad now, wait until another 10,000 or more are adding to the unemployment total...

  9. 18:08 - I like the idea of fighting fire with fire although being crap at my job will take some thought, but I'll have a go, if nothing else, to piss these morons off for a while.
