The Dash For Cash

wtf
In order to aid its "dash for cash" (ie increase its tax take) HMRC will be hiring 1,150 temporary staff to work between now and March 2012.

However, HMRC have denied that it paying bonuses to staff for increasing the tax take.

I wonder how well trained theses temporary staff will be?

Maybe some of temps hired will be those HMRC staff recently made redundant?

Comments and opinions, as ever, are always welcome.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  4. When;
    Mark Garnier MP wondered whether HMRC officials could be lying when they suggest that there has been no reduction in service within the £1.1 billion savings which allegedly have been made within the department.
    When;
    Summing up for the committee, Andrew Tyrie MP said " I don't think I have ever heard gloomier evidence about a government department or sub-department. This is the description of a failing institution, isn't i? has it ever been this bad?"

    what next?

    (quoted in PCS union magazine Oracle April 2011 as reported in minutes of Treasury sub-committee)

  6. They are recruiting these 1000+ jobs at the same time as offering early retirement schemes to 350+ people. WTF can't they move these 350 people into these roles, save the money on the redundancies and also save the money on the recruitment costs?

    Saying that, the new people will know fuck all which makes them more qualified than ExCom.

    ExCom are banging on about something called Building our Organisation (i.e. top brass go through physco-analytical assessment just to be told that there are perfect for the job - DLS & DH exempt and eveybody on ExCom passed!!!! All pigs really are equal.) They couldn't build a fucking sandcastle.

    We are a failing organisation. Heads must roll.

  7. Nero fiddled when Rome was burning.

    DH went to India

    DLS travelled first class rail and taxi at immense cost to launch an event or celebrate something or other

    The head of PAYE quit after just 5 years to pursue other career opportunities

    Some IT geezer got out then back in again at some ridiculous salary

    And the organisation snatched defeat from the jaws of mediocrity to end up 103rd out of 103, sorry last, even the Commons Committee couldn't fail to notice this one!

    The administration and effectiveness more like the continued downward spiral.

  9. @ 08:50

    I think the point was that it is an ongoing failure. Therefore failing.

    I think it is well documented that HMRC is not functioning in a manner that enables it to provide the service it exists for. Therefore it is a failed organisation.

    More shite than a cow shed and just as much strench and mess.
    Get some advisors in there and coaches like Paul Gray they will sort the mess out. What do you mean they caused it?
