As CDIO of HMRC, you would join one of the largest and most complex
government departments. As the UK’s tax, payments and customs authority,
HMRC collects the money that pays for the UK’s public services and
helps families and individuals with targeted financial support. HMRC is
undergoing significant transformation, including helping the UK to
respond to challenges such as the COVID-19 crisis and leaving the EU’s
customs union and single market. Right now, HMRC is playing a vital role
by launching new online systems to provide financial support to
employers and the self-employed, to limit the long-term impact of
COVID-19 on UK business and the broader economy.
Job description
As
CDIO of HMRC, you will tackle one of the largest and most challenging
roles, not just in the public sector but, in any sector. Reporting
directly into the First Permanent Secretary (and CEO) Jim Harra, you
will be a critical member of his Executive Board. You will lead one of
the biggest digital transformations in Europe as HMRC further leverages
digital technology and data during the crucial years ahead.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this post, you will need:
• Proven experience of operating in a strategic CIO/CDIO post in a
large, highly regulated and high-transaction based organisation; a
significant financial services or telecommunications business, for
example.
• Evidence of leading a large team towards strategic goals during a
period of transformation, developing a high-performing and inclusive
culture.
• Proven experience of leading and embedding transformation,
including effective management of very large operational and change
budgets.
• To be innovative and able to spot opportunities, while also considering the viability of those opportunities.
• Substantial experience of delivering stable, resilient, secure and
robust IT and digital services, combining in-house and supplier teams.
• To be highly credible and able to operate in a complex environment
with a range of government and industry stakeholders to influence and
ensure best practice in digital, data and technology.
