The State Supports Avoidance

Contrary to what the politicians would have us believe, the state very much favours tax avoidance (until, that is, its avoidance measures enter the public domain).

As per the Telegraph:
"Two Government departments have been fined and 100 NHS bosses and civil servants have been fired after the Treasury discovered that staff were being paid “off the books” through companies.
Danny Alexander, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, fined the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Health a total of £1.5million after it emerged that they were not doing enough to stop staff being paid through companies and potentially reducing their tax bills."
Quel surprise!

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. HMRC itself has form in this regard. Was it Deepak Patel - among others? The rank hypocrisy of Alexander, and all others in the Treasury, makes me want to vomit.

  3. Deepak Singh not Patel. Actually moved off payroll then re-employed as self- employed (paid more) the next day I think. Then give £20k to help find new job. How can government punish anyone for this when tax authority does it? Beyond belief.

  4. HMRC are the biggest corrupt thieves you will ever deal with. Don't let anyone bullshit you to the contrary. They have no right to preach to us when they perform as they do. Tell them to put their own house in order before they come talking to you. Basically... go fuck yourself HMRC .... you're a disgrace to the U.K. and to call you 'Her Majesties' is an insult to our Queen.... You should be ashamed.

  5. HMRC missed an important deadline today, now the noose really is round their necks.
They have abused the legal process, disregarded deadlines and will now pay the price by losing another court case...... sorry tax payer, they have wasted your money.

  6. May sound dramatic, but the HMRC is nothing short of state sponsored terrorism of the population. Fines and penalties without proof, Guilty until proved innocent, bullying and intimidation, unprofessional administration of their duties.
Are we really willing to continue to stand by and see our taxes wasted in this way, and more importantly, see our fellow citizens treated with such contempt and lack of respect and courtesy.
Time to put HMRC back under our control, remind them that we are the customer, and put them on notice that we demand service
