The BMW FOI Update

My thanks to the loyal reader who sent me an update on the BMW FOI request:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

On 30 January I requested an internal review of your reply to my FOI ref ***. You acknowledged receipt on 2 February.

On 3 March I asked for an update of your review. On 4 March you replied that the review was still active and that I would receive a response "shortly".

On 27 March I asked again for an update, pointing out that it was 40 working days since my initial review request. I have not as yet had a reply to this email.

As you will appreciate I have no desire to involve the IOC in this matter so could you please let me know when your internal review is likely to be completed.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours sincerely.."

The luxury car scandal has and will be exposed. Be in no doubt. Narrative spinning will not work. The truth is what counts. After all, this is OUR MONEY

@11:01 You're very welcome. I like to use the skills acquired during public service for the public good.

We do our best to expose the secrets they'd rather taxpayers didn't know - think of it as a public service

I would like to extend my gratitude to you for all that you do. And thanks to Ken for running this amazing site

      How f*cking dare you!!!!!

You have had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the FoI re the alleged BMWs nor the subsequent request for an internal review by HMRC.

When I have asked you on a different thread for one single example of corruption that you have exposed you have refused to respond and now you have the barefaced cheek to take credit for someone else's efforts. It is 'internet nutters' like you that destroy the credibility of sites like this. Please leave it to serious people.

      @17:35
We're sorry you feel we've taken credit for making an FOI re BMWs. To be clear, we didn't make that request - we never claimed that. However, we have been heavily involved in unravelling and exposing the car scandal.
We provide a 'public service' of identifying and exposing wrongdoing, and are very grateful to those who have recognised this and expressed good wishes. We are very serious about our extensive work in this arena. We're pleased that others have stepped up, and thank you for your personal contribution by submitting an FOI.

    8. Does it matter who made a FoI?
What matters to me is that there are clearly several people pursuing the truth.
Well done to each and every one of you 👏

    9. @18:47.
If you have done "extensive work in this arena" then you'll have no trouble in giving us an example.
Using the 'royal we' now I see.

      @12:28.
You're perfectly correct that in the broad scheme of things it doesn't matter who made the request. It just pisses me off when an obvious fantasist takes credit for someone else's efforts.

    10. @13:16 today - I don't understand what your issue is; you sound a bit unhinged. I actually worked for HMRC. It was rife with bullying and harassment. I applaud anyone who calls it out. The 'Exposing the corruption' people are evidently pivotal in those efforts

We didn't claim credit for your FOI, you have no evidence of that.
You carry on trolling - we'll carrying on exposing any and all corruption.
If you're a taxpayer, you'll appreciate our work!!!
Leave this to the grown ups, please!!!!

    12. @16:03. Any reasonable person with an understanding of the English language would interpret your post on 13th April @12:25, along with that @09:54, as an attempt to pretend that you had made the FoI request.
Still not giving us any examples of the corruption you've exposed?
I'm going to keep on asking.

  3. What on earth is going on with this FoI request

  4. There seems to be a little disquiet from a troll...
To clarify - we never said we'd made the FOI. However, we are heavily involved in unravelling and exposing this scandal.
We are committed to identifying and exposing HMRC misdeeds and will continue to provide this public service. Pleased that others have recognised our work and that we are extremely serious in our duty.

    1. What has been your heavy involvement in exposing this scandal? We'd all like to know?

Two posts in an hour on the same subject. One as 'anonymous' and one as 'Exposed As A C*nt'. Weird behaviour!

  5. I have just had a disquieting thought about the way this thread is going.
It started innocuously enough with Ken posting my latest communication regarding HMRC's internal review. Very rapidly it was hijacked by another poster who, along with a supporter or two, has taken it off at a weird tangent.
This confused me until I started thinking about his/her possible motivation.
If the result of the internal review is disappointing then my only recourse would be taking the matter up with the ICO. Judging from their website this will not be a straightforward task and will require some effort. Now why would someone go to all that effort if they knew that the end result would be getting abuse and ridicule on here. So who would gain from me not continuing the process?
    Answers on a postcard please.
So I can see two possibilities here.
Either 'Exposing the Corrupt' is the deranged narcissistic that he appears to be on the surface or he is an HMRC plant attempting to derail the FoI request.
    Worrying times indeed.

    1. For what it's worth, I very much appreciate your efforts. If you want to go down the ICO route, feel free to drop me a note and we can brainstorm it together.

    2. Thanks Ken. I intend to give HMRC until week commencing 27th April to respond.
I'll let you know what happens.

Once again, we're grateful for your efforts. Certainly not a "plant". Just a professional mission to uncover the truth and weed out corruption - without fear or favour!!

    4. HMRC have gone rogue on this one. They do so safe in the knowledge that the onus is on the person making the request to complain to the ICO, and the penalty risk is low. If that's not another example of casual corruption, then I don't know what is. Kudos to those who have given up their time and made an effort to get to the bottom of it

    5. Maybe HMRC staff deserve a little luxury. They work hard for low pay in my experience

    6. @11:30 on 16 April. No need to clarify. There may (or may not) be a plant on here but you're certainly not one of them. Keep on campaigning for the truth

    7. @11:37 I worked at HMRC for 20 years - those who worked hard were in a minority, so no that's not an excuse. And the pay is very good - well above the market rate in many parts of the country.

  6. It's interesting to know HMRC debt collectors do have BMWs. Hopefully, the media will look into the reasons more budget cars aren't used.
