HMRC Too Incompetent To Be Trusted

In a letter to the Chancellor, the British Bankers' Association (BBA) state that HMRC is too incompetent to be trusted with powers to raid people's bank accounts.

An extract of the letter from Anthony Browne (CEO of BBA) is reproduced in the Telegraph:
It is clear that HMRC’s performance cannot yet be considered as sufficiently competent to wield an unchecked power this strong, at least not without significant reputational damage and potential litigation.

HMRC would effectively be a judge in its own cause.”
It is a rare occasion indeed when I agree with the BBA. However, in this particular case I am in full agreement with them.

Tax does have to be taxing.

Fact check organisation Full Fact (me neither) requested the Statistics Authority to examine HMRC manipulation of statistics ( otherwise known as lying).
Also NAO got in on the act and spoke thus; "some of the public announcements about performance improvement were therefore wrong".
    errrr. ..hello, anybody there?!

Just what will it take to turn this out of control disgrace around?

Wonder what happened to the Dissent group of employees, they gone underground or just given up?

    1. Fact check is a Channel 4 site that exposes various misrepresentations and official forms of lying. It also gets behind political spin in a search for truth and separate political fact from fiction. At least that's what it says it does...

  2. Is anyone looking forward to the car crash that will be the HMRC tv documentary to be filmed next year I think that will be Homer's final act as they have given the tv company carte blanche to edit how they like and have no say in final programme apart from a preview.
