  1. Ken and others, it is time to stop beating around the bush.
If true, and I see no reason to doubt the allegations, then perhaps at last this is something that will cause the politicos to act. The actions would appear to indicate malfeascance in public office, a breach of the Civil Service Code never mind against any useless charters that exist!
The public could not give a toss about bullying, harassment, rock bottom morale or lost jobs, but knock them below the money belt and things may be somewhat different especially with votes at risk.
The challenge here is for someone to get this past the useless PAC and to someone like the IPCC.
    Pigs fuelled and ready?

  2. They have always done this, if a tax return has an error it is sent back and not classed as being submitted.

The oneous has always been for the return to be checked before submission which is what a lot of Enquiry Centre appointments were for, now they have closed they returns will go unchecked.

You sign the form to say it is correct.

  3. To be fair, I have always assumed HMRC staff are idiots and will continue to do so until someone proves otherwise.

    1. Why thank you but I am not an idiot and neither are many of my colleagues and have always treated tax payers with respect as I am also a taxpayer. . I dont make the rules and have a living to make like any other human being. I dont expect anymore sympathy than an other woker but do not like being called an idiot for making a living.

  4. It’s about time that the PAC opened their eyes and got to grips with the ongoing scandal and fraud masquerading as “Future Revenue Benefit” – as referred to in previous posts. The department is consistently and wilfully overstating the “yield” figures which they obtain from compliance work and thereby presenting ministers with a much inflated figure of what has been brought in. All the staff know that it’s a fraud in all but name, but you have to produce the figures or face disciplinary action. It’s essentially the same ruse that Tesco have been using to inflate their profit, and it’s no surprise that their recently departed chairman, Sir Richard Broadbent, was in charge of HM Customs & Excise when it was introduced there.

Anyway, I digress, perhaps Broad bent and his missus could bring a period of enlightenment to the dark place that is HMRC?

  5. This is an example as to why these halfwits should not be allowed to hit your bank accounts without proper safeguards and at least a modicum of due diligence.
To apply a blanket approach to errors as being deliberate is immoral, by definition an error is an unintentional mistake, not deliberate, defined as something done consciously and intentionally.

If HMRC has developed a method of remote viewing the mindset of the average taxpayer then that would place them light years ahead of the 'Christian's In Action' or the CIA as they are better known, let alone any of the other 'alphabet agencies' out there! They would be well advised to take out a global patent.
    LOL!

  6. I believe this instruction to be a genuine rather than a deliberate error on the part of HMRC management!;)
