HMRC Rangers Supreme Court Ruling Today

The Supreme Court is to announce its verdict in the case between Rangers and HMRC over the club's controversial use of a tax avoidance scheme.

Two tribunals had previously found in Rangers' favour.

But after an appeal, the Court of Session found in favour of HMRC - with the Supreme Court in London now set to make a final judgement on the case.

The ruling will be streamed live on the Supreme Court website at 9:45 this morning.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  2. Twice in 18 hours! I don't know which was the more humiliating for them, or more hilarious for us.

  4. We law abiding tax payers of the UK request HMG to expedite a full no holes barred investigation into corruption on any scale, current & historic within HMRC. Please spare no blushes and remember that HMRC's credibility with the public is being undermined by cover ups. If senior management, past & present were aware of allegations of criminal & civil law breaking, please investigate why evidence of the offending behaviour was not independently investigated, and why ALL evidence was not assessed for potential criminal and misconduct proceedings. If any management have acted with anything less than full '100%' integrity or been less than truthful about any aspect of allegations (such as prevaricating or misleading or 'spinning') please consider all legal and disciplinary avenues to ensure justice is served. Please also investigate how much of tax payers money has been wasted trying to cover up offensive behaviour.

  5. Good oversight and understanding of the majority of issues affected by HMRC 'management'.
Don't forget this is an organisation that was called out for using RIPA related methodology on one of its own solicitors and his wife.
However, Teflon has less non-stick properties when it comes to systemic failings across all areas so affected.
