I see that somehow or other, HMRC managed to overpay 134 of its staff last year by a total of £1.2M. Not, it would seem, a one off event.
A spokesperson for HMRC said that most overpaid salaries over the last financial year have now been repaid.
Quoted by economia:
“We take recovery of any overpaid salaries extremely seriously. The percentage overpaid is around 0.5% of our total salary costs. This appears to be an ongoing issue.
We are continuously seeking to improve the accuracy of our payment and over the last five years the amount overpaid to employees has reduced over 20%.”
Does anyone know why HMRC can't get its payroll right?
Tax does have to be taxing.

A colleague of mine gave them 2 months notice before leaving. And they still paid him after he had left for another month. But when they realized their mistake they threatened him with legal proceedings to recoup the money.
ReplyDeleteThe Muppet show at HMRC.
I'm beginning to think that HMRC is shite.
ReplyDeleteNothing to see here, move along.
ReplyDeleteBozo's been overpaying people for years, look at what they pay their managers, excom and Homer. Money for old rope, unjustified bonuses paid to the people that wrote the key performance indicators FFS!
But what do you expect from an organisation that bought hook, line and sinker into Lean. The Toyota based process designed to improve the customer experience.
Thats double bollocks even before you consider the state of play generally on stage at The Muppet Show. As for backstage, best not to go there, too many skeletons, and the stench!
Now, when it comes to that globalist entity G@@gle, one must not be mesmerised by their early 2010/11 Corporate Motto - 'Don't be evil', which has since morphed into...
'Do the right thing'
"Don’t be evil. We believe strongly that in the long term, we will be better served — as shareholders and in all other ways — by a company that does good things for the world even if we forgo some short term gains."[6] The motto is sometimes incorrectly stated as Do no evil.[3][7] The motto has since been replaced by the phrase "Do the right thing".
It's all there on Wiki folks, 'Seek & Ye Shalle Finde'.
Of course, with a connection to a post box No. 666, just what would ye expecte?
Wake up SheepleZzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Sheeple word is wearing a bit thin now......
DeleteGet the flock out of here!
DeletePray enlighten us what descriptor you would suggest for those who exhibit 'passive herd behavior of people easily controlled by a governing power which likens them to sheep, a herd animal that is easily led about. The term is used to describe those who voluntarily acquiesce to a suggestion without critical analysis or research in large part because the majority of others possess a similar mindset.' or 'people who are meek, easily persuaded, and tend to follow the crowd.'
(ref. Wiki & Word Spy)
We are not all sheeple....
DeleteOn the other hand senior managers and excom members will have their overpayments written off. We are all in it together folks.
