HMRC are very far from perfect when it comes to data security. This though sounds like someone taking their job a little too seriously. I suppose HMRC memorise everyones reference number do they? No I didn't think so.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe They're asking too much of agents by expecting them to have the client's reference number to hand when they call?
ReplyDeleteYou are not supposed to tell callers (or answerers on outbound) what they failed security on. If there was doubt about the reference, an additional question should have been asked.
