  1. Its reassuring to see the ICO holding HMRC to account by insisting a response to be issued within 10 working days. Time and again HMRC need to be told they're not above the law. I call on the government to investigate the integrity, culture & integrity of the tax department. In the meantime, will HMRC ever have the good manners and decency to explain themselves - why could they not meet the legal deadline in the first place, without wasting Ken and the ICO's time having to chase them up?

    1. Reassuring???

      Maybe.

If HMRC fail to meet the extended deadline I would only be satisfied if an enforcement notice is issued.

  2. It would be remiss not to state that The Muppets will consider this ICO missive as akin to the proverbial act of savagery by a dead sheep?

    1. Exactly right. They will not be told by anyone - "we're better than you and will do what we want, who are you anyway?" - that's their arrogant attitude. They seem to consider themselves akin to above the law. In reality HMRC are bullying, sanctimonious, holier than thou law breakers.

Its not right. But I give up on expecting anyone to hold them to account.

    2. In other words they are unethical. I read they have a large "communications department" - but until they get their 'brand' right - marketing is nothing without morals, justice & doing the 'right thing' - its all a waste of time. They're clearly not getting the right advice. If they were a private sector business having to earn their keep, they would have ceased trading long ago.
