Tax avoidance is perfectly legal. However, HMRC has deemed this type of scheme no longer to be a valid means of avoidance.

I wonder though if, having been so keen to enable its stars to avoid tax, will the BBC stand by them when HMRC come after them?

Tax does have to be taxing.
