FOI The Cost of Lever Arch Files

Following on from last week's article about the £8 paid per unit by HMRC for lever arch files, in the absence of any response from HMRC/Number 10 or the Treasury to my tweet requesting details about the costs, I have submitted an FOI to HMRC requesting the unit price of said files.

It will be interesting to see what form of response I receive.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. The answer is filed in a Lever Arch file that has been misfiled.

No chance of finding it within section 20 FOIA cost.

  2. If they really wanted to answer your FOI query it would take a week at most to discover the answer and structure a suitable response. As simple, almost, as sticking your head out of the door and asking "how much are we paying for lever arch files?".

Of course, the answer, if you actually get one will be "HMRC systems do not record the individual price for lever arch files as these are purchased in bulk and it is not possible to break the figures down!" FLOFL!

Oh, and a quick bimble thro' Amazon shows you how much over the odds they are paying, and, shock, gasp, horroe, discount is available for bulk purchase!

  3. I see HMRC have not acknowledged your FOIA request (normally done within 24 working hours of sending).

Are they treating your request as vexatious?
