The question of Uber and Vat will go nowhere -if they were agents arranging a supply to private customers the place of supply is the UK -on the basis that their commission exceeded reg limits why were they not registered 5 years ago ? because someone was contacted, usually via top 4 accountants and looked the other way .If they are seen as buying in as principals they will argue it is a Toms supply as a tour operator , as they are based in the USA it does not apply to them -their is a loophole which HMRC have done nothing about allowing non EU operators to avoid tax here .The idea that you book a taxi in London and deal with a firm in San Francisco is nonsense -look forward to the usual whitewash and "hmrc do not comment on individual cases " statement .As no one has the balls to take on Google ie that their offices here make supplies this will go in to a black hole , leaving a QC taking action against the government !
