"Mr Doyle’s (of HMRC) written evidence also contained statements that were simply untrue.

Overall, I have come to the conclusion that Mr Doyle’s written evidence is unreliable. It is peppered with inaccuracies and has not been prepared with the candour and care required

Fucking disgraceful!

    1. Since when have HMRC been concerned about such trivial things as perjury!? The law is just for the little people.

  2. Not a surprise.

Dishonesty and incompetence is standard for HMRC staff.

They routinely take their chances and lie in legal proceedings.

We need prosecutions of corrupt staff.

    1. HMRC staff are no more dishonest and incompetent than in any other organisation.
They do not routinely lie in legal proceedings.
HMRC has the same problem as other government organisations- the running down of the UK public sector prior to privatisation.

  3. As a Collector of Taxes one of my jobs was to prepare Witness statements for the court. They were accurate and error free as they had to be.

Unfortunately I has a few thrown out because the stupid Investigating Inspectors constantly provided totally wrong information.

It was ever thus! What on earth's happened to accuracy and integrity? No don't answer that!

  4. An investigation by the Daily Express shows, in a surprise to nobody, HMRC is the worse offender. They'll just apologize, accept the criticism and say they're doing everything they can to improve. It'll get worse, not better.
