Genuine question, what do you think will HMRC look into her tax affairs?
Tax when you sell your home
Private Residence Relief
You do not pay Capital Gains Tax when you sell (or ‘dispose of’) your home if all of the following apply:
- you have one home and you’ve lived in it as your main home for all the time you’ve owned it
- you have not let part of it out - this does not include having a lodger
- you have not used a part of your home exclusively for business purposes (using a room as a temporary or occasional office does not count as exclusive business use)
- the grounds, including all buildings, are less than 5,000 square metres (just over an acre) in total
- you did not buy it just to make a gain
If all these apply you will automatically get a tax relief called Private Residence Relief and will have no tax to pay. If any of them apply, you may have some tax to pay.
Find out if you’re eligible for Private Residence Relief.
Married couples and civil partners can only count one property as their main home at any one time.
The rules are different if you sell property that’s not your home or if you live abroad.
Tax does have to be taxing.

Another champagne socialist. Of course HMRC will turn a blind eye, all those workshy lefties collecting a wage from them would cause a riot if they took action against her
ReplyDeleteThe tax office I worked in was certainly full of extreme socialists who, bizarrely, thought the Blair creature is right wing and they hated the Labour Party.
DeleteHitler was in fact a socialist, they all seem to be mad men (and women).
Of course Hitler was a socialist. That's why he had the trade unionists and Communists sent to concentration camps. And why the Nazi war machine was built by private corporations.
DeleteThat's true: Hitler was a National Socialist and his background was steeped in socialism.
DeleteRead a book. The National Socialist party were not socialists.
DeleteApologies to the hard of thinking for my bluntness but the clue is in the party name: National *Socialists*
DeleteSame as pcs identify as *socialists*
No. You can call yourself anything, but you're not socialists unless you follow socialist policies and beliefs.
DeleteIt's like the former East Germany dictatorship calling itself the Democratic Republic of Germany. You'll be shocked to learn that it wasn't democratic at all.
I suggested that you try really a book. You might also try thinking, hard as it apparently is.
For all we know they may have looked into her tax affairs already. Then again, there man be nothing to look into if everything has been properly declared.
ReplyDeleteOf significantly more importance to the nation are the Tory politicians and donors who have made literally millions out of corrupt government contracts (PPE etc), bought peerages and so on.
Can I also point out that the idea of HMRC being full of lefties, while attractive to the looney fringe, is utterly untrue. I worked in the department (and it's predecessors) for 40 years and I would say that a small majority of my colleagues were Conservative supporters - the same as society in general.
Not forgetting Kier Starmer's Labour Party who were in lockstep with the corrupt government with the dodgy contracts etc.
DeleteBoth Labour/Conservatives are parties for the rich and driven by woke, far left ideology when it comes to social issues. Scum of the earth. VOTE REFORM
A strike is on the horizon. All the Civil Service not just HMRC.
ReplyDeleteJust normal working people wanting a decent, living wage. That's not how it's portrayed though is it.
