Tomorrow's tax return deadline seems a good time to make a few points: (1) Accountants don't make the tax laws which mean you have to pay tax (2) If you can't pay your tax it's not your accountant's fault (3) Bookkeeping is a chore but it has to be done. #tax— Stuart Jones (@StuartJones) January 30, 2020
Tax does have to be taxing.

I disagree with (2) above. One of the many jobs an accountant should be doing for their client, is demonstrating in a practical way how to make provision for tax, NIC and the like.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately during my work in HMRC, I see many, many accountants that don't attend to and make provision for their own tax! The number I've taken to Court for non-payment is quite something.
Just saying.
Yes... and accountants charging small, sole traders a not inconsiderable amount to prepare their accounts and not even doing a basic VAT reconciliation. Which would take them what? All of 20 minutes.
