Phish Warning

Phish Warning
Be warned, the following phish is doing the rounds at the moment.

The email, allegedly from HMRC, invites the recipient to click on the link and submit personal data.

It is of course scam, HMRC do not send emails out asking people to submit data.

You have been warned.

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of 188.50 GBP. Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 6-9 days in order to process it.

A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.

To access the form for your tax refund, please click here.

  1. Wow that's nearly as much as I won on that lottery they said I'd won. I'm going to invest it, along with the inheritance from Nigeria in a bank in Iceland

    What? It's a con?
    And the lottery?
    And the inheritance?

It's just as well we can trust the banking system isn't it

  2. Although we all say people are idiots who fall for these things, I am not sure that is entirely true if it just happens to fit in with one's circumstances.

  4. There is one line in the scam e-mail that does ring very true: "A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons".

As we all know, HMRC are past masters at concocting all manner of reasons to delay refunds.
