  2. True enough, 130 offices will be closing, and about 1500 or so staff are expected to end up being made redundant. I have no problem with that (BTW I am a serving HMRC senior manager). What I *do* have a problem with is that this is from a CEO who said late last year (when GB announced changes to the CS compensation scheme) that "we have no plans to make staff redundant" - yet I KNOW from a contact in a Director's Private Office that they were actively discussing closures and the resultant redundancies AT THAT TIME. Do not expect any moral compass from HMRC - they are ruled mainly by imports from the private sector who do not understand the public service (that's a comment not a criticism) - and are all too slavishly following the dictats of the political class. What ever happened to having a non-partisan Civil Service? - well if it were YOUR career, managed and ruled on by the politicians of the day, what would you expect?
