HMRC's Adult Entertainment Taskforce

As per AccountingWeb, HMRC has announced a focus on the assets of strippers, escort agencies and lap dancing clubs, with the creation of a new ‘adult entertainment’ taskforce.

HMRC agents will be going undercover into strip clubs etc.

It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it!

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. Ha!
    Test purchases will be laughable when they end up in front of a Tribunal.
    Then there is the question of allowables for the 'under the covers' officers participating, or otherwise, such as;
    drinks, boxes of man size tissues, cleaning bills for clothing etc.,
    then there will be all these innocents getting arrested by vice squads for drivebys of premises in various dodgy areas, and as for focussing on ass ets that will mean they get a bit behind in their work, shurley?
    How will they make it stand up in court?

  2. So who amongst, what used to be viewed as an unimpeachable Civil Service, will be pushed or volunteered to investigate the activities of brothels, lap dancers, prostitutes, paedophiles etc. where involvement could lead to difficulties with infection and possible police involvement? In the event of tax evasion being discovered on the part of such activities will details of those using such as brothels and prostitutes, public figures included, be made available to the police for possible prosecution? Looks like a minefield for the uninitiated.

    1. Why would the perfectly legal activities of anyone, public figure or otherwise, who uses the services of prostitutes be of any interest to the Police?

  3. Easy pickings really;- theres no end of documentaries on TV showing "ordinary women" who openly boast of how much they make on sex chat lines / on the game etc ;- Its about time they were jumped on [ pardon the pun!! ]
