A Million Yet To Comply

The Telegraph reports that over a million self-employed people have yet to comply with new tax rules just one week before the deadline and could face fines if they refuse to sign up.

From April 1, the Government’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) rules will force 1.2 million small business owners with a turnover above the £85,000 VAT threshold to keep all records digitally and submit them to HMRC using approved software.

However, only around 70,000 have signed up so far, according to HMRC (6%).

Leaving things to the last minute is of course very human. However, methinks many of these people will miss the deadline.

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. HMRC have failed in raising awareness of MTD its obvious. They will bullshit their way out of the mess and blame somebody but themselves. Par for the course.

Maybe they should do an awareness campaign for the risk of an STD as well. As scummy tartpigs see fit to flash their kebabs in Telephone Boxes. Not withstanding booking hourly paid harlots to rail at the expense of the british taxpayer.

St Jezebel WhoreHouse should be on the front page of the Daily Mail.

    1. Sage software ads have done more to raise awareness of MTD than HMRC, disgraceful!

  2. Wow. Wow. Wow. Shocking stuff in the Sunday Times today about the shit show that is HMRC. According to the paper HMRC investigating a fraud involving those linked to terrorism failed to share information with intelligence services. An utter and total failure to helping to protect people.

Seemingly they claimed "confidentiality" for this dereliction of the most basic duty of any public servant.

I wish HMRC has taken their confidentiality rules a little more seriously when Heather Connolly unlawfully disclosed my personal data leaving me at risk and with numerous serious losses - instead they covered up for misconduct despite the clear evidence. Absolute bunch of dishonest liars not to be trusted.

Time for a full investigation into what has gone on in this corrupt tax department.

  3. They can't even disclose details of rape to a relevant force! No hope I am afraid.

Can Ken set up a job blog to help any civil servants who are seriously disillusioned escape?

    1. If they are that desperate to escape they could always try submitting a resignation letter.
      Just a thought.

    2. Why should victims resign? Some have had to out of sheer desperation. Your comment appears to blame the victims for NOT resigning if they're not happy with the way HMRC have treated them as though it's a dispute over a missed promotion.
There has clearly been a total lack of organised support for victims of Nellthorp and his gang, with some suggesting that victims have been pressurised into keeping silent by the employer. I'm not sure that resignations will help unless PCS assist in constructive dismissal action.
Having no support from HMRC is one thing, but posts suggesting "why don't you just resign" are unbelievably thoughtless.

    3. Troll the feed do not!

Thought this particular one had been run out of town. ;)

    4. With respect I think you have misunderstood my post. Both the final sentence of @00:04 and my reply relate to people wishing to 'escape' from HMRC.
This is not the same thing as failing to support victims of alleged wrongdoing.

    5. @ 10:40. So by 'run out of town' I infer that you and your mates were trying to shut down debate by spreading lies about me on another thread.
How very mature and reasonable of you, you really are an absolute hero.

    6. Dear Troll (look it up!),
Before engaging in amateur keyboard warrior tactics be sure of your facts, and more importantly "It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle." Sun Tzu.

I have not nor will I tell lies about you or anybody else.
I refute your pureile inference, please get your facts right before slinging effluent!

    7. So what did you mean by "run out of town"?

    8. Nonne troll et pascere

      ne pas nourrir le troll

      не кормите тролля

      Torōru o kyōkyū shite imasen

      Bùyào wèi jù mó

    9. As the great 12th century Icelandic philosopher Rassgat Rassgatsson so accurately put it "he who quotes pretentious bollocks is trying to divert attention away from the fragility of his argument"
Who could reasonably argue with the great Rassgat.
