HMRC's Digital Future - Less is More

It seems not everyone thinks that HMRC will succeed with its bold digital vision of the future.

As per The Register:
"Jessica Figueras, chief analyst at government IT experts Kable, believes the additional £1.3bn promised to digitise HMRC by 2020 is money that has been costed from the Aspire contract.

"HMRC is planning to save 25 per cent of the costs of Aspire by replacing it," she said. Last year HMRC spent £874m on IT and digital. "Put it another way – HMRC's stated plan is to spend less on digital and IT, not more."
Let's see where we are in a year's time!

Tax does have to be taxing.

  1. On the assumption that Ken has been kidnapped by aliens...

    Some opportunities missed this week, especially this one;
    TAXMAN WORSE THAN ABYSMAL
    Front page and widely reported across media
    We all know the story regarding crap performance by HMRC, however, an energy supplier has just been fined £26million for poor billing procedures and 'customer' service problems, Mmm....???

    What about the report DIGITAL TAX ACCOUNTS WILL JUST BE SCIENCE FICTION?
    This Mail article goes on to highlight 'the fundamental flaw at the heart of HMRC is that it has no concept of customer service.

    Now, if you had been listening to the HMRC bint (Ruth Owen?) interviewed on Radio 4 the other day you would have imagined that the person had been on another planet for the last 10 years or was just totally in denial/delusional.

    La La Land, off to hell on a handcart, 13 regional centres costing heaven knows what, but thats off the books or whatever the politicians hide the true costs of such wastage and expenditure under.

    Christmas is coming, any decorations up this year? Secret Satan would be more happily engaged than Secret Santa.
